So in your mind, the choice is investing in gun companies or investing in companies that lose money? Because there are hundreds of other companies in countless other industries that make plenty of money.

Some of us would rather not support that industry.

So the bottom line of that rant is that you don’t want people to have a choice in what they invest in. What a fine, upstanding, freedom-loving person you are.

Nowhere in any of your comments in this discussion is that apparent. You began by pointing out that “the man” was treated more lightly than “the woman”. Your follow-up did nothing to contradict that.

A senior VP at the network said they were both suspended. What more proof do you want?

If she were a lesbian the suits at the network would lose their goddamn minds with glee.

You can still treat someone with respect without going to the kind of lengths needed to treat them like royalty.

We made a campaign out of calling his dad a wimp when he was in office. Softer (a lot softer) language, same sentiment.

People on our side were plenty disrespectful of Bush, both before 9/11 and in the last several years of his presidency. Most of us were not as bad as the average right-winger talking about Obama, but we can’t sit here and pretend like Republican presidents get nothing but ‘respect for the office’, you know?

What, you think that it’s a parent’s job to pay for college? It’s a requirement? We’re supposed to just fork over the money, no questions asked?

Has anyone had any luck just getting the current carrier to lower the bill? Like, walk into AT&T and say, “T-Mobile is offering me half the price I’m paying you, so if you want me to stay, cut my bill by that much”?

“You know what? You’re benched. Bring in the backup.”

1989. I was 15. My 14-year old sister threw a party while my parents were out of town. Mind you, we were staying with relatives, not in our own house. She invited a bunch of her friends and the entire boys’ varsity soccer team. I heard about the party and got my older cousin to drive me to my house. They were wrecking

A Pi and an Arduino, naturally.

Zwan should have been given more of a chance.

I tried that recipe a month or two back, and I... don’t get it. I just don’t get Dorito flavor from it. Maybe it’s just me <shrug>

What’s wrong with a ziplock full of ice? I mean, this is a cool (GET IT?!) idea and everything, but it seems needlessly complicated next to a bag o’ ice.

According to the calendar up there, that’s true. There was one 8-day period in April without a mass shooting. In no other month did we have a week-long stretch without one. There were a couple of fours and fives, but mostly we get at least a few every single goddamn week. We passed the mark of “ridiculous” a long time

If I were a young, black male, you couldn’t pay me enough money to open carry. That’s just begging someone to shoot you.

Very doesn’t need to go away, it just needs to be used a little more sparingly. Is it ever strictly required? No, not really. But every word serves a purpose and while ‘very’ may be redundant or unnecessary, it can still be used to drive a point if used well.
