In San Diego, at the landfill you can load up on wood chips, mulch, compost, and some varieties of each for free. Theres a daily maximum, but I’ve never been questioned. So long as it looks like youre there for your residential needs and not loading up a dump truck, no one will raise an eyebrow.

The scenario I was responding to was a leak before crush depth, filling the sub and them drowning.  I’m well aware of what actually happened and would prefer that hugely over the sprung leak at a shallower depth and drowning.

Probably the second best option after slipping away from oxygen deprivation which would have been like slowly falling asleep.  Much better than drowning in an oversized can.
