Whats a while? All batteries die eventually and need to be replaced. Removing a battery for cleaning is fine. They days of losing all your radio pre-sets are gone.  So long as its not overnight or something I would think it should be fine.

They should allow you to schedule when to use this option. I can see needing a quick charge during the day and not getting it due to this feature being annoying, but in the evenings when I’m home? Sure, why not.

Planes alone have 2.2 million passengers between SF and LA annually. I can see a train eating into 1/4 of those. Depending on where the stops are, I can see it taking a lot of traffic off the roads. I would do anything to avoid physically driving back though.  That mandatory 2 hour stand-still at Primm is pure hell.  They could make it the exact same time door to door and I would take the train 100% of the time.

Its going to have to be cheaper than a Southwest flight that can get me from San Diego to Vegas in a similar amount of time including check-in and all that.

In the cabin is a totally different story and okay by me (so long as the pets stay in their carriers).  We fly with our pug and shes great in the cabin.  I meant solely below deck or in cargo that I wont ever do again.

Medicating/sedating your pet for the flight is not always a good idea. Honestly if you have the ability, just drive with your pet to your destination. I have seen and heard too many sad endings and miserable experiences to put my dog through that again, and I used to fly mine a few times a year.

You arent getting that in that area anyways.

The ability to get out of the country at a moments notice is never a bad idea.
