It is cool that the people who left during development get some recognition in the credits. It is fairly common company policy at places like Electronic Arts to cut people from the credits entirely if they are not there at the end of development.

Well that’s why I was wondering: the ending was left pretty open ended. There’s even room for a prequel game depending on whether the way you got locked up in that stone sarcophagus was connected to Doom II’s events or if they’re events that are completely unrelated.
That’s too bad... that would be the thing that would make me willing to fork over more money.
haha no doom does not delete its 50 gb game file from your hard drive
- TDM
- Soul Harvest. TDM with ‘ticket’ like scoring system, demon runes don’t time out or disappear. 1 ticket for player kill (+/- for team), 2 tickets for demon kill.
- Freeze Tag. Weapons turn people to ice, goal is to freeze everyone, standing next to a frozen teammate ‘thaws’ them.
- Warpath. Moving domination…
Most of the hate was from the multiplayer beta, which does have some pretty baffling design choices. Everything I’ve seen about the new Doom has been overwhelmingly positive, except for maybe the most hardcore Doom fanboys who still keyboard the original doom in DOSbox.
And people thought online passes were bad.
You forgot “but we won’t put what you want in the game you paid for, instead we’ll charge full price for a sequel that surely will have the content you feel is missing!”
A season pass that cost almost the same amount as a normal release; a season pass that would have cost me more than the new Doom (thanks GMG!) if I had gotten suckered into buying it.
No, no, you’re doing it wrong. You have say something like, “Content for final game that releases along-side the last film will be cut because VII VIII IX.”
A season pass that didn’t even really offer anything at that. Shameful and disrespectful all around.
A lot of people says it kinda feels like a faster-paced Halo - which makes sense since it was farmed out to the studio that did Halo 5 MP. They have also criticized the use of loadouts instead of the weapon pickups in previous Doom and Quake multiplayer. It leads to goofy scenarios where a rocket launcher only does…
It’s because 14 million people bought the game. They plan objectively worked. Cut content to make sure the game releases along side the movie to capitalize on the movie’s hype. It worked!
Should have been half the price then. Not to mention the inclusion of a seasons pass for half a game is shameful.
14 million people paid full price to beta test this game for them. The crazy thing is if people had not only complained, but also decided to not purchase the game, then there would be no hope of a proper sequel because EA would say consumer interest wasn’t high enough.
At first I loved them for the hyper-violent gore –Doom’s always been a violent game, and for me this kind of colourful ultraviolence is great, over-the-top fun. But after seeing the same animations several times over, they became a little dull, and I began to resent them for breaking up the flow of the combat.
The only thing that I missed from the campaign the option to do co-op, which could have been a blast on ultra-violence or even nightmare. Other than that, it’s amazing and mostly everything I wanted out of a modern Doom reboot.
Went into it not expecting much but I am thoroughly happy with this purchase. Nice to see the game shine despite the initial kneejerk hate it seemed to get. Fast, frantic action and some really terrific level design.
Literally just beat it. Loved it. I recommend that anyone on the fence take the leap and buy it. Because the fall is fun as hell. Though I haven’t tried the Multiplayer section yet. Too many games I need to beat to goof with it. Maybe I can comeback when/if id updates it with better modes and the community maps are…
