Hate to break it to you, but nobody that has $3 million sitting in the bank is middle class. Your family members are upper class, among the top 5% of Americans who have $2m+ tucked away. The typical middle class American household is worth $50,000-400,000.

Well, give it a few years.

That is the most wonderful charming letter. What a class act. President Obama, you’ll be missed.

Lots of guys care about their diet and talk about it, a lot. But usually it’s about eating more protein and less junk so they can be stronger and healthier and look like Chris Hemsworth. I guess admitting you have a medical problem and *can’t* eat certain foods makes guys feel like their masculinity is undermined.

He should be in the (new? Upcoming? ) US Avengers book with all the patriotic themed superheroes. That would be really ballsy.

I think the series is going to end with Wakanda no longer being an absolute monarchy (probably with Shuri in a leadership position). But yeah, I think T’Challa’s gonna be doing something else for a while.

Okay, so I checked out that Heritage Foundation plan, and they do have a way to cut $1 trillion/year from the federal budget - make massive cuts to Disability, Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security survivor’s benefits. Cutting PBS and arts programs and stuff is just a smokescreen for that.

I went and looked at the Heritage budget this idea is based on, and after a huge list of little cuts, they explain how they’re really getting that $1 trillion/year cut - by gutting Disability, Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Social Security survivor’s benefits. Surprise, surprise.

Right, the entire discretionary budget for 2016 was $1.1 trillion. Nevermind PBS, to reach that figure he’ll have to eliminate almost every federal department and agency, including firing most of the US armed forces.

So, doing basic arithmetic, he wants to cut federal discretionary spending by $1.05 trillion per year, out of a total budget of $1.1 trillion per year. That’s a 95% reduction in federal discretionary spending.

I want to love Captain Marvel again too. Hopefully the new series is good. And maybe, like with the original Civil War event, they’ll find some way to handwave the awfulness away.

I honestly can’t tell if this is a joke making fun of DeVos, or if you’re actually being serious and your school did you a huge disservice by not providing you a decent science education.

For your first point - only if the state allows religious charter schools. Same with allowing for-profit schools, or allowing charter schools to charge extra tuition on top of the funding they get from the public school system. These are regulatory choices made by the state or local government that can be changed.

Those kids also learn about inspiring and significant people from their teachers at school. I mean, at the very least, during Black History Month, kids all learn about people like George Washington Carver and Benjamin Banneker - why not these ladies?

That’s an amazing point that I’d never thought of before.

Yup. I think a lot of well-off people forget that the real purpose of public education is to create an educated workforce and informed citizenry. When you hurt public schools, you hurt the economy as a whole.

I feel like this was one of the big things this movie was saying. They had these white guys going “how are the Russians beating us??? No way they have more smart people than us”, while at the exact same time, ignoring and pushing down on a lot of the very smart and talented people they had, just because of race and

They also didn’t add “under God” to the pledge until the 50s.

My brother’s JROTC program included riflery, so they did. But that’s a structured paramilitary kind of program, not random teens having guns in their locker.
