*sigh* I was hoping to get away with a glib comment but now you’re making me write about this!

First off, my comment was not just about the day one patch. It was about the condescending and disrespectuful comments from the dev team.

“We COULD HAVE gone on holidays. We COULD have sold you an unfinished game and make you

Way to miss the point!

Must be nice to be a rich asshole who can afford internet that downloads at the speed of light.

As if we should fall down on our knees and thank them for doing this, right? Fuck those guys. I hope this shit fucking tanks.

You took this flippant post way too literally in thinking this person was implying they didn’t have the patience for waiting to patch. They likely were being sarcastic about their excitement to play a finished game the dev so graciously finished for us. Hope that helps clear things up.

If you live anywhere internet providers employ data caps, or god forbid, use satellite, 20 GB can move beyond ‘time-consuming’ and straight into ‘expensive’.

Not being able to play it right away.

20gb in 30 minutes? damn it must be nice up there in the 1st world xD

I wish it was 30 minutes... rural internet means that’s a days download. Could be worse though, at least I don’t have a cap. Hell, that 20gb is most people’s cap in australia.

Its the assuming that everyone has fast internet that gets me. Now I’m with you in sentiment, having lived through the dark ages of the internet, but some places still don’t have sufficient infrastructure. For myself, it will be a 2-3 day download though I have the fastest connection available in my area. 10 miles

I don’t think the complaint is that the game has a day one patch of that size, it’s more that the Dev is basically framing this like he’s doing us a favor when in reality it sounds like they’ve actually finished the product - not bodged it together and said “fuck it”.

Your comment frames this as some grand business strategy to sell hard drives... I highly, highly doubt that’s the case.

Console makers and game developers have pretty much pushed consumers into a corner regarding drive space. What was once an era that just let you pop in a game to play now requires games to be installed on consoles like PC’s. Couple that with massive random updates and these companies are making money hand over fist

Yeah.

Well I mean, they don’t have to be dicks about it.

I’m fine with a business trying to get their due when they provide a good product or service. Most rational people are and won’t complain.

The thing is, a purchase is an exchange where both parties CAN be happy—no one has to walk away mad. Buy something great at a price that feels fair & you’re over the moon.

Hahaha yeah why fight to improve for something you like, right? Hahahahaha why would anybody do that idiots hahahahahahahaha

You’re right that no one is surprised it’s more profitable, but it’s pretty interesting to see some actual figures.
