That shit is fucked up... here in Canada it’s just a fine (a very hefty one, which grows larger each time you refuse to pay, but you don’t get locked up for it.. had a college friend delay hers for 5 years, she was never imprisoned.. though she did put herself into crippling debt cus of it).
Yeah, I’m incredibly shocked at where the bail was set and that she was arrested for driving without a license - unless there’s some back story and other offences that we’re unaware of, it’s very draconian :/
$10,000 bail for a driving violation! A relative’s husband beat her to a pulp and then pulled an all-night “I’m going to kill my family & self with these firearms (shotgun, pistols, revolvers, semi-automatics)“ while police stood around talking into megaphones and walkie-talkies.
As my F.I.L. (who is a lawyer) says, “In the U.S. we have a legal system, not a justice system.” It’s revolting.

Yup. Violent crime is down but we have all these jails and prisons with all these employees and private businesses that profit selling goods to those jails/prisons and no politician wants to kill a bunch of jobs in their cities, counties, districts, or states so lets lock up nonviolent people for minor offences then…

I think you are right about the good qualities you mention. I have raised 4 5-year-olds though and, while i noted there are many 5-year-olds with more ability, I think he stacks up with the typical one (great apologies to 5-year-olds everywhere - you do grow up! Unless you are DJT)
