Oh man, I had a great aunt like that and she was so great. She married late, never had kids and was widowed by the time I knew her, but she was so independent and cool. She was born in 1912 and was super outdoorsy and loved fishing and was just all-around fantastic.

Well this e-stranger likes you. So there.

It’s bananas

This is literally what my town looks like right now

There’s got to be some sort of happy medium between Florida and six feet of snow. It’s ridiculous here.

I’m just jealous that they can wear fashionable winter clothes because they aren’t buried in 6 feet of snow. Jerks.

Are you sure you’re not just jealous because Henry VIII dumped you for Katherine Howard?

Princess Michael is the worst

Royals/aristocrats often go by their title as a last name. So the Duchess of Devonshire (whose last name was Cavendish) often went by Deborah Devonshire.

Hacksaw Ridge

Long nails weird me out. I know someone who keeps hers long and whenever she is typing at meetings it seems to impractical. Like she’s a bird of prey trying to jot down the minutes.

It was a big thing on the West Coast of Canada a few years ago. So many feet.

This will get lost in the greys, but

This will get lost in the greys, but my husband will be happy about this, not because he likes weed, but because he invested in it and it’s part of our children’s education fund. Just last night he said “Oooh, the kids’ weed stocks are doing really well!”

Anecdotal evidence re. age. I’m Canadian and I went to a party in June that had a wide variety of ages in attendance (I’m in my thirties, and I don’t go to many parties due to having small kids) and there were tons of people smoking weed, and most of them were in their 50s and 60s. They were having a GOOD TIME.

I really pushed for Katherine for my daughter but my husband would have none of it. I’m kind of sad, although I think my daughter’s name suits her. But Katherine is so pretty and timeless.

Oh my God, that was so worth it. Thank you.

I just finished reading Atwood’s Alias Grace (twenty years later) and it is just stunning. I am so happy that she is getting so much recognition outside of Canada.

I finally got around to reading Atwood’s Alias Grace and my God, can that woman write a beautiful, engrossing, powerful book. She is a treasure.

Danica Roem is my nomination. She is a badass.
