I’m sure this story will get lost in the greys but I once met with a parole officer (I was teaching criminology and needed a guest speaker) and he later emailed me and there was a signature in a fancy font that read: Dare to Dream.

I love England and I hope you do secretly work for the Travel Board and will fund my (hypothetical) trip there.

I’m Canadian, and I do not share the OP’s opinion. I’m an Anglophile and I’ve devoured all the documentaries on Netflix about English history and just finished a book about Richard III. I’m dreaming about a trip to Bosworth Field. I’ve been to the UK once before but I’m dying to go back. I have small kids, though,

Stupid sexy Flanders

Ugh, Quebec. Always so contrary.

Agreed. My Dad gets so upset if he even hears Bernardo’s name. And he is a psychiatric nurse who works with the criminally insane, so he has seen some things.

I’m also Canadian and I believe in rehabilitation for most criminals, but not psychopaths. They cannot be rehabilitated.

Couple of things I’m sure other people will point out:

She was an adult when she committed the crimes and the crimes occurred in Ontario, not Quebec.

She is. They dressed up in Star Wars get-ups for Halloween with their three adorable children and it was maximum cuteness.

I thought he graduated college as a chemical technician. Not a PhD or even a bachelor’s degree.

I thought that too! It was so weird because “mother” is nothing like the word “hair.” Why did I think this? I like him as a public figure and wish him well. So weird.

My first year was great, and I’m seven years married now. All of the hard things we’ve gone through have been easier because we had each other.

Me too, and as soon as I was old enough (grade nine) I got my own water bottle and brought it to class with me. I’m 37, so I’m not a young whipper snapper and this was way before the water bottle crazy the author is describing.

Or she’s a big fan of post-war British PM Clement Attlee (but can’t spell)?

I’m glad you are!

Thanks so much. He was a gentle, quiet, Canadian WWII vet who loved square dancing and shuffle board and trips to Florida. I miss him a bunch.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to pile on. Everyone always forgets poor Peter Phillips.

Aw, I’m glad he’s okay. I just recently lost my 94-year-old grandpa and I miss him so much. I just want the nonagenarian grandpas of the world to be okay, royal or not.
