I have a device in my pocket that is the best camera I've personally ever owned, more powerful than most of the computers I've owned, as capable as any of the handheld videogame systems I've ever owned, and is also a phone.  And is lighter and sleeker than it has any right to be.  I marvel at this from time to time as

Accepting the premise that it's functional body armor, it simply means that bringing Early down will be more complicated than simply shooting him a couple times, and the ship is not an ideal location for a gunfight. Any munitions you use that are powerful enough to puncture his armor could damage the ship.

Honestly, if they had said that it really was just tin foil, and that wrapping the house in reflective material was the only form of cooling they could afford, I would have been ok with that.

Regarding Inara's actions and reactions in this episode, they are heavily informed by a bit of backstory that they never got around to revealing onscreen, but which Baccarin eventually shared with Joss' permission (as has been mentioned a few times in the comments for previous episodes).  Viewed through that lens, I
