A gamma ray source is easy enough to explain. Earth gets hit by gamma rays on a regular basis, and pulsars direct high intensity beams like spotlights. Perhaps a neutron star washes over. Fits nicely with the “Starbrand” name. For that matter, Quasars can emit gamma, too.

Why is it not a thing to require two factor authentication on phones yet? With a fingerprint sensor and passcode, I’d be really happy to set it so you have to hold your finger on the sensor while you enter your code, or it doesn’t work.
