Squeeeeee!!!

The real hell was using Papyrus font on this photo.

It makes me ill, because now I can’t buy a good used diesel VW anymore.

Or VW is scared one of their cars will become the next Toyota Hilux and every gun runner from Tripoli to Mogadishu will turn these TDI’s into a fleet of DShK technicals. The wagon’s in particular with the roof chopped off would do nicely.

These cars deserve better. The owners deserve better. The shareholders deserve better. This is just a gigantic mess that makes the automobile loving part of me ache. D@mn the whole chain of command that let this happen.

Heartbreaking is the right word. For those of us who form emotional connections with our vehicles, this is what hell looks like. Every one of those VWs has a story. That navy blue Passat was grandma’s car. The white Golf was some kid’s first car. They’re more than just pieces of metal and plastic sitting in a parking

There’s a lack of perspective on this whole thing. I bet if VW did that, they’d get accused of “dumping death machines on third world countries!” or something sensationalist. These could probably be sold for sticker price in Beijing and actually improve the air quality there.

That’s a really sad image thinking that all that material will be wasted and new cars will have to be made to replace them (a lot more polluting than a diesel), even selling them to countries where cars pollute as much as these VW’s but they are much less safe and unreliable would be a better solution.

You fool! There’s no way you could turn a Golf GTI into a monster truck!

Good time to buy a cheap VW diesel! Just wait for your new government to throw out all the environmental regulations and these should flood the market.

I started to say “Hey, three places where nobody actually notices abandoned cars, LOL!” But this actually makes me physically sick on many levels, I’m not even sure where to start. It’s like cash-for-clunkers redux. Surely there are places in the world where these could serve to immeasurably improve people’s quality

They’re just waiting for Trump to repeal the clean air act and shut down the EPA so these cars will be legal again.

I’m not a VW guy, but I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if I could.

Ok, not cool! My buddy was talking about burying his grandfather-in law, when I read your comment and started chuckling!

you mean the worst.

But does it have a Rotary?

I was there a few years back and they straight up had a Century sitting right in the middle of the showroom floor. You could open the doors and sit in it and everything. Sadly, I’ve only seen it that one time- probably not something that they keep on display too often.

The “AAA international permit“ looks same as “weird paper translation thingy” we have.

I normally agree, but I think it actually works much better on a carbon-fibre racecar.

Wait until you get home.
