They were afraid of being seen as not hipster enough, despite Seth not even being as hated as he was during the Ted and 100 Ways to Die in the West years (that was like 10 years ago!) Seth has more than enough good karma from this, funding Cosmos, and the Orville

Hell, a good amount of animation people are like this even outside Cal Arts. Matt Groening does little to no actual production for his shows, nor does Seth MacFarlane (but at least with him he’s acting in them extensively)

I know exactly the person. The type that needs to “control” the party and what everyone is doing and will badmouth whatever it is if it wasn’t his idea

This reminds me of Trevor Bauer in baseball where he wasn’t convicted of the major crime he was charged with but was still so horrible to work with it doesn’t matter.

I actually liked just how ridiculous Blair Witch 2 was, maybe because I hated the first one

I do respect that they keep the story going, the dad died with the actor and they don’t do a reset where Toula’s totally not Richard Gere husband dies of Soap Opera Disease or they split up

I’m happy the first one came out of nowhere to be such a hit, but making this into a franchise just seems like such an unnecessary thing. But your mom should be able to have her indulgences too! Ok maybe I’ll see it too.

One of the few good things Rogan did was expose that hack

I think the media giving him infinite free airtime was the issue, even if Jimmy added to it it’s not like he was covering every single speech he ever did.

Who’s really that loyal to Jimmy Fallon though? He just doesn’t seem to have the appeal that even Leno could drum up

The only thing I think Jimmy does well is the musical parodies, otherwise he has no comedic timing, especially in a job where you interview people that’s a crucial skill to have

Also Leia is leading a Resistance with the help of the dominant Republic government. Isn’t the FO technically the Resistance, albeit an evil one?

I agree with this take on Last Jedi and have thought the exact same thing on a cliffhanger. With some editing I think the film could’ve at least left people wanting more, like the idea of leaving Rey on a cliffhanger. That’s middle chapter 101. Last shot could be either Kylo’s hand outstretched, Rey agreeing to join

Yeah, Filloni is basically the fixer of Star Wars, filling in the cracks that the prequels and now the sequels had

Agreed, JJ basically did the same with Star Trek: Blow up Romulus, then Vulcan, on top of that have one ship destroy almost the entire fleet and Starfleet command to the point where cadets are in charge of the ships. Thank goodness he never got to touch the Borg

I was hoping at the very least 25 of those 30 years were spent with a functioning Republic and rebuilding Jedi, even if spinoff adventures were happening. Their lives just feel so miserable and for nothing now. The EU had similar issues but still kept the mains alive (besides Chewie) and Leia and Han get a grandchild

Also they do stupid crap like hyperspacing into a planet’s atmosphere then somehow pulling up at the last second.

The heads in jars were overused, but I can’t knock it entirely when we get stuff like the Lucy Liu bot and the Star Trek episode.

Yeah, I think the issue is when they do direct satire of current events, but if they parody a thing that recently came out that’s a different type of comedy

I think this episode felt slightly better than the Comedy Central run, but still didn’t exactly justify its existence. The best jokes were the ones that weren’t tied into riffing on the meta situation or modern day things. Most of the cast sounded just fine, except Fry sounded somewhat older.
