I think they both hit the tones of their respective properties. ROP definitely has a much grander scope and budget, but the people of HOTD are more interesting because they’re allowed to be sleazy backstabbers. Depends on which fantasy you want. For me it depends on the day 

Second episode of ROP picks up quite a bit, the first one was a bit boring and definitely a B B- for me.

In this crapsack world he was one of the better ones. Even Ned Stark was marrying off his 13 year old to Joffrey, and was only going to break that engagement when shit truly hit the fan.

I do like this show so far but it’s forever doomed by the timespan they cover (30 or so years) meaning we don’t get nearly the in depth look at events and characters as the original GOT, and the fact that we know it ends up with Bran as king.
