I think it’s because JJ/Orci had so much influence and still do on the writers for both franchises. They love mystery boxes, shouting, and shallow nostalgia

I’m ok with the Borg becoming space hippies, Agnes (my least favorite character besides Raffi and Elnor) has grown on me. I can at least understand her motivations and internal conflict. I have no idea what point the other characters serve for the story besides filler.

Yeah, Maurice being an abuser or at best neglectful and dogmatic is more than enough for Picard to have hangups. Prior canon at least makes clear they vastly disagreed on lifestyles and his brother sided with their dad. It also fits with Stewart’s own childhood. 

Actually The Enterprise B is active and Kirk is thought to have been dead for about 15-20 years or so (Picard born in 2305, 12 years after Generations’ prologue) 

I guess...maybe his dad was just that much of a luddite or just locked her in while he called the mental health people? The face that we never get an answer shows how cheap and shallow this plot point is. 

The actor playing Chick Hearn nailed the voice though 

I’m surprised Nixon of all people agreed to work on this, as Macon is about the same size as Lansing and is in the more rural Georgia, and Norm isn’t portrayed in the best light. 

I kinda liked the character, but....why? There’s so much else going on and Picard yet again is just kind of hanging out somewhere and not actually doing anything. I guess it’s better than him being blown up and turned into a robot like last season, but it still seems pointless. 

It’s him preemptively stealing Trump’s thunder as the culture wars attention-grabber. And its working for their base. 

Gotta love how teachers acknowledging same sex couples=airing videos of buttsex to the GOP.

Disney shouldn’t get special treatment, but I wish they were held to account for the right reasons. I’m kind of annoyed at liberals circling the wagons around them considering their corporate and workers rights record.

They....kind of do sometimes. Nobody ever thought Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy would be hits, but they played them fairly safe and Ant-Man had a ton of executive meddling 

They also stray from the official Batman story by giving him a name and having him help kill Bruce’s parents.

The Ledger Joker is great, but the Halloween copycats and mythos around his death make it really hard to measure it on purely the performance.

Nobody can top Anthony Atamanuik’s impression or even South Park’s teacher being the Trump stand-in, as they actually had stuff to say about his psyche and impact on the world. SNL has been very corporate, establishment comedy for a while, and Lorne might be a big reason for that. 

Yeah I’m kind of over her impressions which I can only describe as “yassy” 

I’m hoping it’s this but they could’ve done this so much sooner and saved time on the other sideplots like Rios being also captured and Picard getting coma’d
