I have a thing for nostalgic stories mixed with a tinge of cynicism and the acceptance that things always were a bit messed up and crass.

Fagen has a sweet/nostalgic side which is adorable. While not losing his edge.

I figured it was older because there were no TV’s, but my dad loved this film and it reminded him of his 50's childhood. 

At least Ralphie’s dad looks really old, so he’s not going off to war. Or was that just how 30 year olds looked back then?!

It really is for any era, the stuff that happens can be applied to almost any kid. 

Yeah my thought was 1940, based on the lack of WW2 stuff and the presence of Wizard of Oz. I was going to say Jean was around 10 then, but he was born in ‘21 so they might have just decided it was better at a later date.
