They only had to do a limited print, one retailer run for xenoblade. GameStop pretty much footed the bill for it, as well. Basically, Xenoblade was zero risk for them, thanks to an already existing translation and a retail partner willing to take on the financials.

I think some 3DS games are actually made for the bigger screens. I've been playing the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo and the characters just look so small on that tiny screen. And think about it, Nintendo and Capcom released thd MH4U Bundle for the New XL, not the regular sized New 3DS.
