You established a dichotomy. The way your post read, which you are backtracking from now, is that the other poster's religious beliefs would be "all good" if they didn't inform choices, but harmful if they informed (assumed to be always harmful/bigoted) choices.

You implied as much by stating that the other poster's beliefs would cause harm if said beliefs informed choices/decisions. You made the assumption here that beliefs informing choices would take the harmful form of oppressing women and gays and voting conservative. As opposed to, say, volunteering at a soup kitchen.

Not all Christians are socially and politically conservative.
