I think the first thing I remember him from is Just Shoot Me. He plays a really good everyman, but that makes it even more impressive when he plays really out of the mold characters like Mathesar.

Colantoni gives probably the best performance of the film, which is pretty amazing given how this features some of the best acting Tim Allen’s ever done (not saying too much), as well as amazing performances from Tony Shalhoub, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Rockwell, Rickman, etc.

I think they cut most of his scenes ultimately. He just kind of disappears after they leave Earth, so it’s easy to miss him.

I think you can certainly argue that the MCU at large is guilty of this, but I think it sticks out in the Eternals for reasons that are hard to quantify.

Yeah who the fuck is Jackie and who is Joanna? This is incredibly hard to follow given that they seem to use the names interchangeably for both characters.

I think it’s just because he’s so self-serious that he borders on parody. He seems to have no sense of humor, he sort of reminds me of that South Park episode where Kanye West can’t take a joke.

The most memorable part of the movie, for me, was when Ikaris gets compared to Superman, which was weird because...he’s clearly Marvel’s answer to Superman...and I guess DC Comics exist within the MCU? It was just confusing and weird. 

I think he’s probably always been an asshole, but now he’s an asshole with more money, influence, and power. So his behavior is more enabled, and there’s more of a spotlight shown on it.

I guess I feel less cheated because I waited til Disney + to watch it for free?

I don’t know that anyone HATED the Eternals, or was mad about Zhao directing, or mad that it deviated from source material.
