Going out of your way to preface everything in your remarks with "Moore's" implies that you are criticizing the adaptation and finding it lacking compared to the books.

I didn't ask why you were posting, just why you watch a show you don't like. Most of your criticisms seem to be of the divergences from the book and it's interesting that you see them as "mistakes" rather than a creative interpretation of someone else's story. I was just curious why you'd waste your time, that's all.

Honest question: why are you still watching? You really dislike this show.

I wondered too. My guess is that it doesn't play out well visually. We've already done the Frank-looks-just-like-BJR bit; it would be too same-y to repeat it with Alex. Plus, Alex and Jack don't look enough alike to be mistaken for each other, though there is a slight resemblance.

He played a minor role in the Season 1 finale.

It was more like 20% down, from a series high. Not exactly a disaster.
You also imagined the numbers would dive from 2 to 3, and it didn't happen. You're certainly not required to like the show, but insisting it's a failure when it's demonstrably not is… odd.

O rly? Okeydoke.

Must be why the show is doing so poorly…;-)

I read this whole thread and have no clue what the person is after. It's not just you.

"Every one of those was Jamie reclaiming himself as a man and the husband he thought Claire deserved. Is all of that REALLY so unrealistic ? REALLY?"

I bugs me that the consensus seems to be that the only reason men would watch this show is female nudity. Does anybody think movies or shows with a strong male lead character is "vanity stroking"? Not really a criticism of you, but rather of the attitude that anything focusing on women is somehow automatically less

Why doesn't this have more upvotes? 1000% with you.

I also wish some of the episodes were longer. It's been done; some episodes of Fargo were up to 90 minutes long.
Re: Jamie's characterization, I see the seeds there. I think we're being shown how he grew and evolved, and improved on some damn good raw material. If he came out of the box perfect…where do you go from

There are complaints about every. Single. Episode. So I don't think it matters much to the naysayers. I think Anne and Toni are great at writing a cohesive narrative for a hour long episode, which is what I look for. Anne is particularly good at writing character; I loved what she did with Jamie in Lallybroch.

I'm sorry, but "xenophobia" just doesn't work in the context of this discussion. Are there foreigners in here? Are we debating immigration? Here's a tip: when your target audience doesn't know wtf you are talking about because you use a certain word, it's time to rephrase.
I keep saying I like the show; you keep

Yeah, still don't know what you're talking about. I didn't call anyone a troll, and you're the one who seems personally offended by the fact that most people really like the show. The commenter I was actually speaking to said she was considering not watching anymore; I was responding to that. Oh, and xenophobia, while

Nobody said you don't have the right to watch, settle down. I personally have better things to do than watch a show I don't like because I don't have a lot of time to waste. Ymmv.

Xenophobic? Uh…what are you talking about? I'm not "ganging up" on anyone; I just like the show and disagree with many of the criticisms here. Either you replied to the wrong comment or your comprehension needs work.

Interesting. I think CB nails Claire. It's a fine line to walk when you play a smart, headstrong woman; that part of her nature seems dead on to me. Women who don't keep their mouths shut make enemies, as Claire did in the book and in the show. Of course we know some people DON'T like outspoken strong women no matter
