Agreed. Unfortunately this whole season (if you want to call a total of 5 episodes a season..) has been really disappointing. After the incredible high that was last year, it would have been difficult for this season to top it, but it honestly just feels like the writers are going for complete randomness over anything

I’m middle class, and 51k dropping into my bank account would be pretty f*cking awesome. Hell, even if someone has 51k of student loans or CC debt or what not, being able to pay that off is still amazing.

Yet another reason I love Trent Reznor, such a chill, down to earth guy. That, and his music is awesome.

Link to said scuttlebutt?

Basically, if you go with the quality of Season 7 and 8, this finale was more than acceptable. However, based on the quality of the earlier seasons, this finale was awful, and fell in to all of the same pitfalls that we’ve seen over the past 2 seasons - poorly paced and rushed plotting, inconsistent character

This finale wasn’t bad per-say, just incredibly disappointing. So many character arcs and story lines that had been built up since day one turned out to pretty much not matter. What was once a dense and rich narrative, with multiple threads occurring simultaneously, became nothing more than a boring and predictable

Well I really enjoyed The Last Jedi, the Ghostbusters reboot was simply OK (definitely not bad by any means, but not good either), Game of Thrones has been on a downward trajectory since at least Season 7, and thus my expectations for it have shifted as well (i.e. Dany’s turn didn’t surprise more, nor did it’s

I’m continually flabbergasted by the reaction to Dany’s turn. It’s been foreshadowed really since season 1 (and there’s a theory that she is an unreliable narrator, this her PoV chapters from the books shouldn’t be taken at face value), and hammered home even more the past couple of season.

I’m somewhat and amused and slightly surprised by the reactions to this episode. For one, I’ve been waiting for Dany to turn full evil for years now, and her turn here didn’t surprise me at all. In fact, the writers have been building up to this moment since at least last season when Dany executed the Tarly’s.

This is no different a cultural milestone than when Star Wars first came out. So yeah, it is something we might tell our kids/grandkids etc.

Pike’s vision of his accident falls inline with what we know. During the vision you can clearly hear the computer say “Radiation leak detected, training excercise aborted.”

Pike isn’t get his radiations burns anytime soon. That happens a number of years from now during a training accident. Said training accident was clearly shown during this episode, during Pike’s “vision” you can hear the computer saying “Radiation leak detected, training excercise aborted.”

I saw 2001 in theaters late last year for its 50th Anniversary, and was absolutely delighted that they kept in the intermission. It was really nice being able to go to the bathroom and stretch my legs, and talk to my friend about the movie... All of tuna started in this article! And 2001 was only 2.5 hours, not 3 😝

I feel as if there are almost two different Elon Musks. The self-obsessed crazy man in charge of Tesla and who posts weird, absurd, and sometimes offensive things on Twitter. Then you’ve got Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX. SpaceX is fucking amazing, they have revolutionized the aerospace industry in ways not seen since

Yes, hence the very first line of my post: “I’m beginning to think the AV CLUB in GENERAL is just unfit to review anything.” (emphasis added)

Haven’t heard of that one. Well have to check it out!

No mention of the excellent 2003 Superman: Red Son mini-series? This “Red Daughter” (and there is a reason they went with Red Daughter...) arc has more than a passing resemblance to that story.

I enjoyed it a lot. There was a certain level of child like fun and joy that’s been missing from comic book movies for quite some time (even in the MCU). Levi was absolutely wonderful as Shazam, really selling the idea that he’s just a kid in a grown ups body. I loved him in Chuck, so hopefully this will get his name

In other news, “Old man yells at cloud.” But, in all seriousness, I’m struggling to fully grasp the point of this rant (and I don’t appear alone in this). There appears to be two competing thoughts:
