Having someone cheat on you is awful. But it sure as fuck does NOT warrant assault.

This. I know people who still feel angry about being cheated on years later...it doesn’t mean they’re bitter and holding onto the past, but it takes A LOT longer than 8 months. If my cheating spouse issued me an ultimatum to basically get over it, I would probably file for divorce.
