Uh...what? These terrorists are much more like Christians than Muslims?
Uh...what? These terrorists are much more like Christians than Muslims?
You know what? They're Muslim. Fucking deal with that.
Modern-day snapshot of how religions have historically been spread: less through persuasion, more through coercion and forced marriage. Awful sight now as ever.
One person told KHOU the teen should stand up because "the soldiers are out there, they're doing their job."
How can the school require that they stand? Is that not also forcing them to participate in the pledge exercise, even if they don't say the words? What is the justification for this requirement? I'm asking out of curiosity, not to pick a fight, as I understand this is your school's rule, not yours.
I went along with…
When are teachers going to learn YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!
My friend and I stopped doing the pledge of allegiance when we were 12 years old for multiple reasons. 1. It's basically a prayer to a flag and that makes me uneasy. 2. For a lot of high school (and now) we didn't agree with a lot of the shit going on in the country (we were in hs during the Bush administration) and…
I hope Mason doesn't back down. I stopped reciting the pledge years ago, and most people who say it do so without giving a single thought to it.
I did the same thing in high school during the first Gulf War. I got called to the vice- principal's office and was grilled endlessly for my reasons for not standing. Ultimately they said that they couldn't punish me for not doing it but they urged me to stop my protest because it was disruptive to the rest of the…
I never said the pledge orstood up for it. I wish my reason was better than kooky religious parents. This kid is inspiring.
Unfortunately, I've seen that kind of thing happen a few times. I went to high school in Austin and I've seen several classmates get sent to the office for not saying the pledge.
Some people forget how much Freedom the soldiers harvest for us. When they head off to foreign nations that have no means to attack us or change our laws, they're actually harvesting massive quantities of Freedom which we all need to thank them for, every day actually. The giant tanker ships full of Freedom come at…
Hope they're ready for a lawsuit. I would understand if this was a private institution and students were required to stand for the pledge, but that's not the case here. I stopped standing for the pledge when I entered high school and thankfully no one gave me shit for that. I personally think we should get rid of the…
We never said the pledge after grade school. I probably would have refused in high school, too.
It's only freedom of speech when you're bashing the gays.
OMG the (almost) same thing happened to in high school. I refused to stand for the pledge in homeroom for basically the same reasons and the teacher gave me detention. But it's illegal to force students to stand for the pledge of allegiance, so I threatened to involve the ACLU and they rescinded my detention.
What exactly are the soldiers doing?
I stopped standing for the pledge when we invaded Iraq my sophomore year. Nobody ever gave me shit about it and when a couple of do-nothing redneck assholes started to, my homeroom teacher let me go to the Journalism room for announcements as long as I checked in with her first. I didnt think I was being a cool rebel,…
America because Freedom except when you are Disagree.
"the soldiers are out there, they're doing their job."
This is literally the answer to everything. Why even think about anything?
