I second this. I think the amount of “royal baby” coverage by, say, People magazine has more to do with the ease of churning out stories than the actual level of interest among readers. FTR: any student in the 5 colleges (smith, hampshire, mt holyoke, amherst, and umass) can take classes at any of the schools. Most courses require the approval of the prof but plenty of men take classes at smith and mt holyoke. The issue here is who smith is recognizing as “women”. Smith college, welcome to the 90s.
