The original animatronics created by Aaron Fetcher for Showbiz Pizza were so much better than anything to come of the Chuck E Cheese name. Incidentally, that same guy is still creating videos with the same characters, like the one seen here.

Charles Martinet seems like a wonderful person. I would actually say that his adorable Luigi voice is his real stroke of genius, particularly with the nervous humming and little details of Luigi's Mansion.
