Gorilla glass uses a chemical process to force atoms into the glass surface to induce compressive loads that prevent scratches from propagating into cracks, much like the glass tempering process does, but without the less controllable extreme temperature reduction and distortion-inducing tempering process.

But more galling than the bloodlust to punish China for covid is the anti-intellectual tendencies of some of the loudest lab leak defenders, which now include Stewart. Stewart’s belief that the lab leak theory speaks to a broader “problem with science” is, frankly, birdbrained.”

I haven’t seen the episode in question, and don’t know the content of the jokes, and I’m not taking a position on whether it’s racist to make fun of white people on the basis of their race (it literally depends on whose definition of racism you’re using.) I haven’t stopped watching any comedians or shows because they

Given the facts presently known, I don’t buy into the lab leak theory. However, the facts presently known do not indicate a zoonotic origin with a high enough degree of certainty for me to exclude all other possibilities, such as the lab leak theory. I reserve the right to change my mind when/if the facts change.

We need scientists pushing boundaries and working with dangerous pathogens, lab leak or otherwise.

Well, if there was an explosion of massive destruction happened in Iraq near a military base, after years of bragging about how they have been researching that exact type of explosion, would it be BS to believe that explosion have something to do with the military base?

I’d like to meet his brother, Herman.

Well, China bragged for years that the Bat Lady is the foremost expert in the virus that is ravaging the globe, who work in the ground zero of the viral outbreak.

He’s 100% serious

Conservatives say global warming is fake because Al Gore says it is real.

“Virology labs tend to specialize in the viruses around them, says Vincent Munster, a virologist”

Agree. I think as well the article seeming to offer scientists a carte blanche seems somewhat strange. Look - I’m a scientist and I think science has made the world a better place, but scientists are also human, and some of them can be reckless, and some (all?) governments can also be reckless.

The idea that Covid-19 either originated from the WVI or as a result of sample collection without proper PPE seems credible. Dismissing it outright feels naive at best, and fuels distrust of media and government.

Kinja is still messed up and I demand an apology that I will refuse to accept.

I was born here, but My family came from Cuba in the 60's. Though no police officer is ever going to look at me and think I’m white, neither would I be mistaken for being Black, and do not identify as Afro-Latino—in fact, outside of South Florida, I’m identified as Middle Eastern as often (or moreso,) than Latino.

Now, back to LMM, his Disney-fied self can get forgotten real quickly, just as quickly as he was called a genius not so long ago

“For centuries darker-skinned Afro-Latinx people have been erased from Latinidad, but we will be forgotten no more. We are tired of being maids and background dancers and will continue to push back until we are seen and heard. Indeed, Lin Manuel Miranda ‘fell short.’”

When one apologizes, one is not entitled to forgiveness or absolution.

So it doesn’t matter that members of the cast were of Afro-Latinx descent because their skin wasn’t dark enough for some viewers?

As for Léon, who has rightly been credited with sparking this very necessary conversation, in response to Manuel’s apology, she simply stated: “For centuries darker-skinned Afro-Latinx people have been erased from Latinidad, but we will be forgotten no more. We are tired of being maids and background dancers and will
