Similar to my experience writing about Weeds, the show has aged to a point where there really aren’t any other “criticism” sources writing about the show this late in its life. I don’t even know if there are any critics still watching, to be honest.

My thoughts exactly. I can’t think of a single thrown in character I have any investment in or want to see again. Return to the core and stay true to the characters as we know (each of) them and don’t go against behaviors just for the sake of a quick dramatic flourish.
