Having not seen any of her good films, but having seen Twilight (I was drunk! It was with Rifftrax!), that is such a contrast with her there where she (and to be fair, everyone) is just a static dead fish.

I’d say that Guardians did a pretty good job of introducing its characters, but I do agree that Marvel movies that try to stuff too much stuff in can really suffer. I think Avengers: Age of Ultron is a pretty good example of this, as is Thor: The Dark World, since it suddenly introduces a bunch of Asgardians and

I remember quite a few things about Mystery Men (which I remember fondly, but I’m guessing doesn’t hold up even before reading this), but I have no memory of All Star being in there.

John Henry has been heavily mythologized, but he was likely not ‘fictional’.

I do miss Oliver getting to do his people-in-mascot-costumes stuff in front of people, but the fundamental parts of the show are relatively uneffected.

The Onion is a parody publication. Nobody goes there for news. Though for what it’s worth there are umpteen stories about people believing Onion stories (the “Abortionplex” story from a couple years back comes to mind).

Yes, those idiots certainly read things analogous to the USA today (or perhaps more partisan equivalents thereof).

Yeah that was a hell of a lot of build up for “slightly awkward I guess, probably wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out”.

I assume the slur in question is ‘gypsy’, which is a slur we should seek to minimize, but there are also many many people who are not aware of it and may use it with no malice (as opposed to the n-word, where nobody is going to get away with ‘oh i didn’t know it was offensive b/c it was in a rap song’)
