I’m with you about hating the Lincoln Tunnel change. But what does that scene have to do with the fascist evil of the US government? Are you maybe thinking of when they blow up the bridges in I Am Legend? Because no real justification for taking the tunnel is offered in the book.

He’s gotten better. His most recent novel THE INSTITUTE has an extremely satisfying ending, and 11/22/63 really stuck the landing, IMO.

“oh no this man we celebrated and showered with riches for being a sick deviant turned out to be a sick deviant”

Surprised at this, he never seemed the type.

  • I also continue to not really understand the point of Trashcan Man here on the show.

This show is a huge disappointment, and the only reason I’ve stuck with it this far is that my wife, who hasn’t read the book, wants to see what happens. And I am mildly curious to see the new ‘coda’ that King wrote for it.

It occurred to me that, with just the tiniest tweaks (mostly the language and Glen’s weed vaping), this entire TV show could be rebranded as “Christian” and distributed via religious networks.

That part I didn’t question. If the Apocalypse happened I would almost instantly adopt that style myself.

I think what The Stand really highlights is that CBS All access doesn’t have a strong creative team in place for content. Netflix, HBO and Disney and even Amazon all seem to have strong creative groups in place. The Stand should have been a solid big budget prestige series, the 1994 mini series had a decent script and

I hate the way The Stand ends, but it’s still better than It.

I’ve read Tommyknockers something like 20 years ago, so my memory of it maybe hazy, but I think everyone who got captured eventually died because they couldn’t survive without whatever the spaceship was generating. The main guy flew away on the spaceship and it was strongly implied that he also died because he was

I’ve read a bunch of his 70s and 80s works, and the shorter his book is, the better the ending. Pet Cemetery - great, Salem’s Lot - good, his short stories - good. The longer books I’ve read all ended on mostly nothing, like he just didn’t know how to end the book and pulled some deus ex machina out of his ass. From

I started poorly and has moved to unwatchable.  I will finish it out because of a compulsion, but I am so disappointed.

Maybe the real virus was the friends we made along the way

And we all realized there were worse things than crucifiction.

HEY CBS ALL ACCESS, YOU SCROOOWED IT UP!

Agree. They really screwed up the Nick character. About 100 pages in the book sets this character up after being beat up in Arkansas and the nice sheriff and his wife and the bullies who beat him up, etc.. are all crucial to seeing why he is such a good person and makes you care for him. It also hurt a lot condensing

or more likely they got some grants from the DoD to show the army in a good light.

Well.  I think this show is stupid, and I have watched five out of five.  Their biznez model is working.   Dammit.

I knew this production was fucked the moment Akiva Goldsman had a any role in it.
