In the wealthy suburb I work in, I used to regularly see a middle-aged woman driving a Hyundai Trajet, of all things. It had Illinois plates, so it was somehow legally registered despite never being officially sold in the US.

Speaking as an advertising person, the rule of thumb is the “journey” goes from good to better, never bad to good. That being said, I found this ad deeply creepy myself.

It was a cheap sucker punch of a twist for sure, but fun nonetheless and perfectly in character for an unabashedly B-grade horror movie like this one.

Just watched it the other week with my 10-year old, for the first time since I was a kid. The scene that got me then, and got me again this time, was when Mike the cemetary caretaker sat in Danny Glick’s grave and opened the coffin, revealing Danny lying there glaring with demon eyes. Not just Carlson. It’s an ongoing thing in right-wing circles and has been for some time. I think it probably got it’s start, or at least a big boost, with Jonah Goldberg’s book some years ago, I forget the title, that said essentially that.
