I don’t even know what generation I am. I was born in 82. From various accounts I’m either a young Gen Xer, an old millennial, or some strange generation in between. I seem to have some characteristics in common with both.

I know the workers here make almost no money and see terrible things all the time. I'm not sure more money would stop the burnout, but from our experience it might at least attract more qualified people. And of course part of the reason the people in the field aren't getting paid much is because the people higher up…
Arkansas. I don't really know how we stack up against other foster care systems.
So I need to tell off AR DCFS, but I’m not wanting to burn bridges yet so I’m venting my fantasized go fuck yourself speech. Context: my husband and I are trying to adopt and we thought the right thing to do would be go through the state. It took us 18 months to get open to adopt a child from the foster care system…
Did he even go to the camp? Didn’t the mom admit they actually sent him to work in Little Rock?
There was a statement in another article about him being tempted by girls tight shirt. I believe in connection with the girl he was “betrothed” to at 14 and again at 16. I may be remembering that wrong, but it's in the Gawker article.
I grew up in Hot Springs, where there is racism because there is racism everywhere, but it’s a better mix of northern transplants and tourist town, plus a better ratio of POC to white people so it’s not as...much or not as obvious or something.
It's true! State reps that believe small children are possessed by demons, the Duggars have been covering all the most terrible bases, the racist stories, our new discriminatory laws. Really knocking it out of the park. We used to be able to say at least we aren't as bad as Mississippi, but now it's basically just a…
There’s one town here where the major employer offers to pay for your kids college if the kid graduates high school there. So you aren’t really wrong. Is statement of actual fact shade?
I'm not even sure it exists anymore, but Harrison, AR used to be incredibly proud of the headquarters. They also advocate seceding from the union and call the Civil War the War of Northern Aggression and talk about the south rising again, so clearly awesome people.
It is a suburb. Most people there commute to Little Rock or Benton. I guess pizza chains aren't that worried about alcohol sales either.
I concede the point. Good grief. That's way too many pizza places. I guess the interstate is the draw.
You forgot the world headquarters of the KKK, white supremacists, secessionists, and current blue laws.
You are vastly overestimating the available choices in Bryant, AR. It's basically 16,000 people who don't want to live in the big city. Also it's in a dry county so they don't attract a lot of restaurants. Probably you could get Dominoes, but it seems like 6 of 1.
If you like outdoorsy stuff we have the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains, the Buffalo River, and trout fishing. Devils Den is interesting. Crystal Bridges is pretty nice and Eureka Springs is kind of cool. Also horse racing and some gangster history. Also it’s super cheap here.
Seriously, move to Little Rock. Do it. It's not perfect, but it's better.
I’m in Pulaski County. This story was not shocking to me at all. In fact, before I even saw where it was I was thinking, “please don’t be Arkansas. Please don’t be Arkansas.”
I still love Tommy Boy, but I'm wondering when David Spade got so pretentious. I'm not sure the man who brought us Joe Dirt has any right to look down on other people at Cannes.
These are some great ideas. We only had about 5 single ladies at our wedding and only 1 of them had any interest in catching the bouquet (she was 19; 2 of the others were my mother in law and grandmother in law). So I just gave it to her.
Exactly. Like I can make out where her natural waist is and the belt is hovering weirdly below it. Not low enough to look like a drop waist but not high enough for her actual waist. I get why it needs a belt but I think even just removing it would look better.
