A truck bed is one of the most useful things ever put on a vehicle. Throw anything you want back there and hose it down later. Who cares if it hangs over a bit, or smells, or leaks, or bleeds.

I drove a small fuel efficient sedan for 2 years under a similar line of thinking and came to the opposite conclusion. It’s way more convenient to just have a truck and use it as a daily driver. And especially once you factor in things like the resale value, longevity, and increase in fuel economy of modern trucks its

Yet fuel economy keeps getting better on full size trucks.

Even when I drove a small car in truck country Texas I don't ever remember this being a problem. I was in a Mazda 3 surrounded by f250s and never had a problem with visibility.

According to who? Most pickup owners I know use their trucks when they need them. Just because you don't always see the bed loaded down doesn't mean it never gets used.

3 in ain't a hell of a lot. For vehicle height.

I don't hate all his stuff but I do wish they would hire some less urban centric politically biased writers.

They can haul 5 people comfortably and a modern 4x4 is decently competent off road. Sure it's no bus or off road roack crawler but it can haul all your friends to and from the bar in the bed and you usually won't get stuck on the ranch.

Fuel economy is a little worse but not that bad in modern vehicles. The price isn't much higher and may even be lower after you factor in resale value. Also I've yet to be in an interior vehicle that doesn't use plastics. Compared to most cars the interiors are usually more durable. The vast majority of people also

Did you actually read those numbers? As I said. The height and with hant increased that much and most of the increase in length comes from the popularity of crew cabs.

In what world are you living. Most people I know do these things.

They fit in all the parking spaces in my neck of the woods

Trucks make excellent personal vehicles. There's hardly a more practical option out there.

This is equivalent to hating people who never track their sports cars. Unlike sports cars though, pickups are more practical.

People on the internet like to say this but in reality full-size pickups haven’t gotten much bigger in height or width. They have gotten longer with crew cab options but there are still regular cab short beds out there. The width is almost identical due to the fact that there are regulations for vehicles over 80 in

This sites insistence on hating pickups is baffling. They are truly one of the best all round vehicles out their. Carry, haul, off road, and tow, they can be had at a wide range of price points, they are usually durable enough to last longer than most vehicles, and they hold their value better most things on the road.

Try reading that again. I literally said “the 3.5 can make 650 from the factory” NOT the f150. The point was to highlight the absurdity of saying just because one incarnation of a engine in a certain application. Makes a certain amount of power doesn't mean every doesn't mean every application will be making the same

Wow. You managed to completely miss the point... Twice.

And you think every 2.3 eb is identical? They aren't. They may be the same bloc and have a lot of similar parts but they aren't identical. Another example of this would be the chevy v8s. A lot of people like to pretend the 6.2l chevy sticks in the Silverado is the same one as the camaro or corvette but they aren't.

It’s not a option I would go for. I like the ability to run cheaper fuel and wouldn’t care about a little more power in a midsize truck. I don’t drive high trim level vehicles. Cheaper usually works just as well.
