My friend’s coffee shop is popular with the college kids; he put up a sign that says “the wifi is free but intermittent”, and when he wants people to leave, he turns off the wi-fi, does the dishes.

I do a fair amount of work “out” and I’m convinced these people are sociopaths. There’s no way these people are unaware that it’s not okay to set up your work station in a sandwich shop with just an iced tea, but they just don’t care: they’ve bare minimally followed the rules (bought a thing) and now they’re going to…
Oh, man, two bean burritos would fill you up for days on less than $2. That was for the days when I wanted to splurge beyond the ramen packet.
Would putting blank covers on the outlets with security screws send the correct message? The shop would have to get a cordless vacuum. Leave the wifi, see if that helps.
Kind of a big difference between kicking someone out of a restaurant for chilling for hours with a laptop and refusing to let someone use the bathroom in your high turnover coffee shop.
Same. TB used to be a great go-to for tacos and bean burritos and they were just down the street from the dorm. Then all of their menu items started getting all day-glo and weird, so these days I’m out.
Surprising to me that Taco Bell doesn’t come in under a dollar for their basic hard taco. The only 59c pricing got so firmly imprinted on me in my high school days that I’m probably never going to let that pricing go.
My first job was waitressing at Chuck E Cheese which meant I was mostly working with other teenagers and we got minimum wage (or just above) - we were allowed to take tips but our pay wasn’t dependent on it. It was a good first job. I agree with Salty that you should look for restaurants with kids her age. I think…
Biden is the topic. Could we talk about him, please, without diversion?
Yep she’s really selling herself short. She looks fantastic.
It’s such a f’n shame media and the fashion world won’t show us women who age naturally and show it in the various ways. It’s a different kind of beauty, but it’s compelling in its own right.
The question was “how annoying is it,” not “can I legally go in and order” and people are explaining that, for the staff, it is rather annoying.
Or they worked in a properly staffed restaurant.
Just kidding. There is no properly staffed restaurant.
No, it doesn’t, but it does raise the question why are they even making a sequel to Top Gun in the first place (other than “capitalism”, of course).
I’m not sure I read that response as “good attitude”. I respect McGillis for bringing some heat in response to a kinda rude question.
Kelly McGillis’s self-deprecation aside, I find her mature, reasoned attitude and presence of a soul to be much more appealing than whatever creepy closet-dwelling freakshow Tom Cruise has to offer. I wonder how much money he has to earn now as Scientology’s main revenue stream?
She looks lovely and far more human than the reanimated corpses wandering across our screen now. I see a photo of Reese Witherspoon these days and I feel like Chief Iron Eyes Cody...
Again that some businesses are willing to stay open late situationally does not change the fact that “closed” means “no longer doing business” just like everywhere else. Nor does it change the ethics of expecting them to do so.
Dear Night Hungry,
Ask yourself this question, how annoying would it be if some asshole popped in where you work and caused you to have to work past the end of your shift.
