What kind of church doesn’t have a kitchen? It isn’t a real church if it doesn’t have a kitchen for the daycare and potlucks.

A friend of mine in a suburb of Houston put out an open invitation on FB for anyone who needed shelter, and she doesn’t even have a guest room. If she could do it, Olsteen could have found room for one or two people in that $10 million mansion of his.

Any church or other religious organization that is physically capable of offering shelter during a disaster and doesn’t should have its tax-free status automatically revoked. They should have to pay taxes like any other business until they can prove their charitable value to the community.

Unless I were a reporter or a civil rights attorney there to protect protesters, there simply is not enough money. I would go to a protest, though.

Fake pockets are the worst. I have bought pants where the pockets were sewn shut and had to be ripped open, but I have no tolerance for fake pockets.

Those jeans look really comfortable, and I would absolutely wear them. The legs aren’t too wide like the ones shown in the link, and the waist is a true waist that is smaller than the hips. I would also bet that they don’t have the obnoxious amounts of spandex that are in modern jeans.

After Ferguson, a lot of military personnel were saying that the police there were behaving in exactly the opposite way that soldiers are trained to. The way they carried their guns was especially criticized for being threatening and something that would cause a violent reaction instead of being deescalating.

Yep. Like when the police force in my town brought out their Bearcat in response to a woman who barricaded herself in her house and said she would kill herself. Of course, when she saw the SWAT team and armored vehicles, she did kill herself. Way to de-escalate and protect public safety!

No good can come of this. I have said this before, but I will keep saying it for as long as I have to. Militaries need enemies to justify their existence. When you militarize the police, the police will look for enemies. They aren’t going out to fight other police forces, so citizens become the enemy.

Maybe it was like Forrest Gump, a reminder that people can be assholes.
