Yay! I am glad things have turned around for you!

Ugh. I hear you about missing girl time. It took me a long time to make female friends because my job and my hobbies are both male dominated. Sometimes I just craved the company of other women. I have made female friends, but it took a long time.

Fellow introvert here. I have moved around quite a bit, and my advice is not to try to make friends with the locals. Eventually you will, but it is much easier to make friends with other transplants. Like you, they don’t already have support structures and things to do.

I hate the whole “strong woman” thing. Doubly so because it always has to stem from a traumatic backstory like being raped or the death of a child. Heaven forbid women be complicated or have a normal range of emotions or simply have confidence from having a supportive family or being good at what they do.

I saw the first Avatar, and the only thing I remember is that it was completely predictable.

We lost touch years ago, so I don’t know what ever happened to them.

I have a very snobby SIL. They don’t make as much money as they pretend to, but that doesn’t stop her from acting like a 1%er (funny how she couldn’t spare $200/month to help us pay for someone to check in on her mother, though). That reminds me of a friend in college. At first, he was thrilled that his GF wanted to bring another woman into the bed. After a few months, they wouldn’t even let him watch them, but he couldn’t find someone new because the situation was to weird for most women (they still shared a lease).

We have a two party system, the republicans aren’t going to fix anything. The democrats are going to have to do it.

By that logic, those people owe me a check because I never had kids but always pay taxes.

If the dems ever get their shit together enough to regain power (not that I have confidence in their ability to do so) they need to enact laws that prevent using government planes for personal use.

This is a good response. I mean, the statues shouldn’t have stayed up for this long, but this response is a big ol’ “fuck you” to the white supremacists. It is also good to hear the mayor calling them racists and Nazis and not sugarcoating the terminology.

I recently read “The Devourers” by Indra Das, and it was amazing. It is a fantasy set mostly in India and is unlike the Western literature that I am used to reading. I can’t recommend it enough.
