First time I replace drums on my Fiat, I bought aftermarket shoes cos they were cheaper than OEM. Also slightly too big. I had to hammer the drums back on (ignoring my friends advise to “put some grease on them, they’ll go on easier”). Took about a day of driving, effectively with the handbrake on, with smoke and hot

Hahaha! “The beginning of the end.” Trump 2016!!

I just make sure they get the kit with springs and clips for their brakes (Same goes for my own). It wont even cost them $10 and is well worth it in case something is stuck/broken/fugly.

Different car

I’ve strongly advised against that exact thing myself and assisted about as many people in getting it done after doing so. They are not for novices, despite the fact that I find them ridiculously easy today. And unless you’re comfortable changing brake lines don’t ever undertake removal of the brake cylinders. But

Still better than Obama..

I agree, drum brakes are not difficult at all unless we are talking about the parking brake shoes inside of a rear disc setup. otherwise a normal set of drums is easy. the only reason I think they are difficult for most people is that they don’t have the right tools. 5 minutes to the local parts store and you’re set.

Agreed. This smells more like a Gawker piece than what I come here for.

Nope. Drum brakes were the first two weeks of Auto Shop I in high school. Literally the first thing kids are taught. But the collective Internet loses its shit if it doesn’t appear as simple to service as IKEA furniture. Tavarish: Go ahead and buy that used S63, ABC isn’t that complicated! Drum brakes? Forget that

Same thing, at least I hope.

I’m not good with politics so here’s a series of cats in boxes:

Half of those things don’t even matter

LOL Ah yes!

What do you see there? GM’s factory optioned chrome wheels as well as the chrome retainer line in the grill. When will you learn GM? When will you learn?

I believe those are meant to flex and contract if the bumper receives a hit. They’re probably also designed to provide stability to the bumper during contact, then push back out when the vehicle has been moved from whatever hit it.

What’s amazing is that’s only 1s faster than the Ludicrous mode on the P85D, a production road car weighing nearly 5000lbs.

Selectable AWD? Can’t watch the video at work.

interestingly enough, the first drag races were conducted with hors and carriage. =D

See, this is why I love Dodge now. They’re making all this ridiculous shit, low on volume but high on insanity (and therefore interest).
