I’d personally rather go 20 years old and just know that I will have to replace literally everything and still be money ahead. That’s just me though.

It was the original GM press release for the car literally the day after they declared that they needed government money. I remember them saying that the development of the car would lead to all sorts of green energy jobs, and though the battery technology they needed didn’t exist yet, it would with enough money…
As long as you include the presidential flags (presumably for the dictator state you’re about to start) as shown in the picture, I approve.
I always liked the concept of that, but knew the execution would be horrible... It was.
Quality and size are definately factors. My Dad’s shell is one of the best on the market (lifetime structural warranty) is for a full size 8 foot bed, as a bumped top, and has all the sliding windows and such. Something cheap like a Lund may only be in the 300-400lb range. I had a real junker top for a 6 foot bed S10…
My Dad’s current camper top weighs 700lbs. You can take it off any time you have 4 dudes available to screw with it (or an elaborate pulley system)... Hence why it has never been off of the truck a single time. I agree that hassle factor is all up to the end use to decide and I’m maintaining my position that campers…
Seating options should be the same as all cargo vans. I have a buddy with 6 kids that was deseperately looking for one with seating as you described. He found a few but they were priced slightly beyond his reach (in the low-30s several years ago). They’re still way cheaper than a typical pick up these days.
If you’re interested in full time covered storage then you are dealing with the exact pain in the ass scenario that I’m opposed to. You should have got a van. At least they have a door on the side you can use to access your stuff and not have to climb an ever-increasing height, then crawl around, for your items.
Kind of a standard GM thing to totally screw it up from the concept... Remember when the Volt was supposed to be a sports car that was all electric and would go like 300 miles on a charge?
Camper tops do have their isolated places in the world (I do know people that even use them for actual camping) and being a breeder of large dogs is probably one of them, but 99% of the time they are just a PITA... Source: My Dad has had campers on all of his trucks since 1974. Now that he’s getting too old to mess…
Or that the owner knows how to roll it up in 30 seconds to haul stuff that you couldn’t dream of dealing with if you had a camper on a truck, yet likes to have some protection for day to day items (groceries and what not).
I have literally only seen the truck in the picture on TV. It was from a show called The Fall Guy. At the time my Grandfather owned a GMC dealership and my Dad looked up the option. It was obscenely expensive. That is the only reason I can confirm its existance and that it’s genuine.
A truck with a camper shell is about the most useless thing on the planet as far as I’m concered... That said, I doubt it. Looks like a tonneu would work though (which I am strongly a fan of).
That might explain why he had more than the typical 6-8 that I recommend carrying.
Dodge (“Ram”) sorta does what you’re talking about.
$400 S10...
Only problem that I’m seeing is that they’re all unloaded.
You’re several decades too late.. And yes, this was a factory option (but a SUPER rare one):
In plenty of jurisdictions it is illegal to transport a loaded long gun without having the ammunition and/or firearm physically separated from the occupants in a locked compartment that is inaccessible by the occupants (that is the long way of saying they want it in the trunk). In a truck cab you’re sort of screwed.…
I’ve only been active here for about 2 weeks and I’m already sickened...
