Not sure what year the “Essex” trucks were, but if it has a 6 cylinder and didn’t have either a turbo or a 300, I wouldn’t want it. I’d rather have one over a 460 even.

Why? I’m not leaving this out of your mom.

Exactly why I did it. :) I’ve found that Rain X doesn’t work very well around town though (not enough wind speed to knock the water off) and on my Jeep windshield it’s entirely pointless since it’s nearly vertical and is a dead flat sheet of glass.

Yep... Hard to get hurt at $50 over scrap price.

CRX parts aren’t made of pure unobtainium and packaged into a vehicle surround by German “let’s just do this different, even if it’s worse and pointless” engineering.

And the extra $3500 and keep it in working order for the next 2 years.

Another old German car...

I just happened to think of another bit of unsolicited advice: it would be a good idea to check out (and probably replace) your transmission mount too if you’re not already way ahead of me.

Sadly that motor would probably be as much work, if he found one for sale, as the one he’s got. I was just trying to come up with something cheap and dirty to get him running so he can live his dream* of actually driving it before he moves.

So... You want me to survey my Mom’s opinion?

Yep... ‘cause you can’t order America’s sports car without an auto...

I sorta feel that way about even their Mustangs too (as does the rest of the market judging from their cash problems). Ever since the Terminator came out there has pretty much been no need for Saleen and other tuners have been doing it better for a long time now.

Yeah already have a Viper that the need to making into a terrigfying 1,200hp driver murdering machine.

Hennessey keeps flirting with the idea of doing his own entire car... The Venom is “sorta-close”.

Replied to the wrong guy. oops!

This is why GMC should bring 4 wheel steering back. Martha could certainly use it in NYC!

She can afford the vastly superior D-Max too.

Rims suck (I hate all versions of “outlaw” style wheels), but the truck is sweet.

“for a semester” was the part that kept that from happening for us. Usually we would just take apart the same donor motors / brakes and never actually “fix” anything. There were like a dozen cars out back that had been donated that just sat there forever. I’m sure for maybe $500/ea they could have been lot drivers and

Oil pressure is an optional feature on the AMC I6. Not a requirement. I’ve literally seen a dozen of them carry less than 10 psi and 0 at idle keep running for years.
