Yah but a GTI would destroy a mazda 3 in every single performance metric, it even gets close to the base model in fuel economy. Heck, the MK8 is surprisingly close in performance to the Elantra N with the performance package. It’s a quietly competent car. People can have an arbitrary level of performance they desire,

I don’t get it. I just bought a new car for $35k with alot of savings left over, but can’t afford anything more than a two bedroom townhouse in my area. How do you afford a home but not a car?

So you’re telling me that Americans are buying larger cars because they anticipate hitting a tree and think they will do better? That’s just not the case. People are far more afraid of other drivers than objects that they know how to avoid.

No, because that headline does the same thing this does, which is blaming this issue on a consumer choice. Its just that the choice to buy large heavy vehicles have numerous other downsides.

If its 61" or less in height at a reasonable ground clearance, it’s a wagon. Frontal area and height are the two biggest things that make SUVs worse to drive and live with, so if neither is excessive its not an SUV.

I will always maintain that 21" wheels are too big on any car. It looks like 20"s and even 19"s can fit over those brakes. They could have easily shed 10-20lbs with those sizes.

They’re expensive, they’re largely not great to drive because they’re heavy as hell and are SUV’s, they have way too much tech and difficult interiors, fast charging still sucks ass in this country, and many people can’t charge at home because apartments and townhouses don’t have level 2 charging, or any at all.

People like the gti because it has good, competent performance without being offensive or problematic. You would have to make it stiffer to make it handle better, noisier to make it more exciting, hurt the practicality to make it look cooler, less efficient to make it faster, etc. Given that it's a car that normal

What toyota are you talking about? The 4runner is now their only model that isn't on a new platform.

The model Y. Every other family I know either has one or is clamoring to get one. When people ask for recommendations for a new car, a model Y is always at the top of the list. I don’t like teslas, mainly for the trend they started of being too tech and software dependent, and the model Y is arguably their worsta and m

Your hatred isn’t irrational, but the new prius isn’t that bad. Anyone 6'1" or below can fit just fine.

The new TLX is really disappointing. Honda already has a great midsize platform in the Accord, its weird that Acura then went out of its way to make one that’s worse in nearly every way. I got stink in the past for saying this but I have zero doubt that Acura couldn’t do what it wanted to do with an accord the way it

I don’t think enough of a stink has been made about how impractical of a car this is. As it stands, this is the most cramped four-door car you can buy in probably the western hemisphere, but its far from the lightest, smallest, or most efficient. That’s more than enough to take this off of people’s shopping list.

No we actually do. Its just one that wealthy homeowners and the rich and powerful hate.

Fair enough. Again, I love the 720s so I’m glad it hasn’t been scrapped. I just expected more changes. Still looks great. As before though, I’m not a fan of the interior, whether it be the small vertical screen or lack of physical climate controls.

I’m a little disappointed that they made such tiny visual changes to this, inside and out. The 720s was great, so reusing that chassis and body makes sense, but do something. Even Hyundai did more with the 2024 refresh of the Elantra. I also like what Ferrari did with the 488 vs the 458. This? It has to be the most

Nothing surprising about regular (still likely wealthy) people being unable to buy a slightly more expensive car, while ferrari boasts record sales in this economy...

EV’s aren’t the cure yet, but the future of transportation is obviously fossil fuel free. PHEV’s are an excellent stop gap if done well.

Your take doesn’t make alot of sense. Sure, this car is a BMW but its a cheaper BMW. The Z4 costs more, is less practical, and not as good to drive. In terms of reliability, these engines were tested by Toyota as to not let it tarnish their reputation. The whole point of this article is about how durable the motor is.

“Why would you want a sedan that's sporty? If you want a sporty car just buy a sports car and a regular car!” yes, because everyone has the money to buy an two cars instead of one.
