This pisses me off so much. So many cars that got cancelled in the past few years had a notable flaw that was later fixed, either abroad, or in a subsequent SUV (eg. the HR-V got the smoother and more powerful 2.0l motor that the Honda fit was denied). The benefits of a sedan, hatchback, or wagon are inescapable.

But you seem to be insisting that sedans are worse to drive than CUV’s and SUV’s are to drive, but I don’t think you can find any good examples of that. I can’t think of a single lineup in North America where a CUV/SUV handles and drives better than a sedan and hatchback with the same motor and transmission. Can you

Dude come on. The Macan is one of the best driving vehicles in the world because of the attention it gets from Porsche. You really think if they made an A4 sized sedan, it would drive worse than a Macan? You think a 340i is worse to drive than an X3? An Accord versus a Pilot? A Mazda 3 versus a Cx-30 or Cx-5? A Golf

Newer DCT’s and PDK’s have solved that problem for years now.

Agree with you on the Wagons thing, they look cool but most sedans look better. As for the EV’s, if that happened today, then yes. Neither the infrastructure nor many EV’s themselves are at a point where they wouldn’t be a huge inconvenience. But its not hard to imagine a world where EV’s won’t be. Good charging

This latest trend of SUV’s cannibalizing the car market needs to stop, and automotive outlets and journalists need to stop being complacent about it. SUV’s are bad at most things and that’s never going to change. And with they way things are going, people in the near future may never know of anything better. We have a

This isn’t a hill worth dying on, its well known, objectively true, and clearly stated by tire manufacturers themselves.

I would have fought you over this 5 years ago, but now at the ripe old age of 27, I wholeheartedly agree. I’m glad I know how to drive manual, and have for many years, but the enjoyment wanes off, especially when you know how much faster you’d be with a DCT or even a good modern automatic.

Car companies should never have cancelled their sedans and compacts in North America. What, your product doesn’t sell, so you’re not going to fix it? You’re not going to make it better? You’re just going to be a bitch (looking long & hard at you ford) and give up?

The problem is that there isn’t a choice, at least not from domestic manufacturers. No one is choosing between a 2022 maverick, and a 2022 Focus, because it no longer exists in the U.S. Also on your last point, the last focus still sold, just much worse than the competition after 2016, because it was worse. If

I have a crazy idea, but what if, just what if, ford PUT THE MAVERICK’S ENGINES IN THE NEW FIESTA. What do you think would happen? Would it still do only 38mpg? Its almost like your fiesta had older engine technology than this car that just came out with a brand new engine.

No, there’s nothing wrong with a vehicle between a brodozer and civic, but there is when the civic is no longer available. The issue is ford replaced the focus with a pickup. It didn’t add more options to its lineup, it traded one for another.

This is really stupid. Just because all cars are wasteful, doesn’t mean there’s no meaningful difference between a 17' long pickup truck doing 25mpg and a sub 3,000lb hatchback that’s smaller and does 33mpg. Like why should I have to choose between a pickup and a bicycle? Give me a focus for pete’s sake.

Because there are more things that matter than just your financials. Larger cars still take more resources and energy to build and ship. They take up more room on roads, streets, and parking lots. If they’re tall, they are more dangerous for everyone not inside in the event of an accident. Cars are dangerous and

Not to mention, while the maverick is small for its class, its still large, like its still almost 6 feet tall, and 17 feet long. Its more dangerous for pedestrians than a focus and takes up alot more room, while being less practical in alot of ways.

Why do tesla owners STILL find the farting feature funny?

100% agree. This and the Camaro both. The Challenger too but its MASSIVE so the second row is at least usable.

I disagree, there are a few three row SUV’s - most of them - that can fit a small or medium sized adult in the third row. Most of these third rows aren’t excellent, but are good enough for an hour-long trip. If you don’t take road trips with more than 4-5 people but do take more on shorter trips (like my family), a

This car is fine at $31k, given the fact that the SI is $28k, (a car I think is also underpowered & overpriced now). But at $35k, a manual Si is too much. A GLI, or even an accord sport seem like a better deal at that point. They should have put the accord motor and transmission in this instead.

I understand the sentiment and the dangers of car-centric design in city centers, but there is not a single well designed city on earth that has completely banned cars in more than 2km^2 of their city center, as is the case with the cities here mentioned. Most places that “ban cars” still allow for delivery vehicles,
