I guess this sounds like what I’d expect from a 2020's remake of an 80's psychosexual thriller, but a whole lot of the fun of the film was Dan’s dawning realization that Alex was not right and he personally had fucked up badly bringing her into his (and eventually his family’s) life. It was definitely comeuppance for

This remake is not going to be ignored.  Dan.

This is an outrageous tragedy, but in times like these it’s important to remember that even though the woman who lost her baby and subsequently almost died as a result of these draconian anti-abortion rules, at least the people who this did not affect in the slightest can still go to church every Sunday and preen

“The jury for the trial, which is taking place in Manhattan, has been instructed not to focus on the lyrical content of the song, but instead “only consider the raw elements of melody, harmony and rhythm that make up the composition of ‘Let’s Get It On,’” per NBC News.”

Creative freedoms aside, it’s worth noting that much of Sheeran’s inspiration comes from pioneering Black creatives[...] young white artists seemingly cribbing from creative strides made by Black predecessors.

I dunno. Let’s Get it On sounds a lot like He’s So Fine to me.

The people who think non-viable pregnancies should continue are sick individuals. This is what people mean when they say the cruelty is the point. There is no live baby coming at the end of a non-viable pregnancy. There is no point to it continuing other than torturing the person or killing them.

The cruelty is the point.

“When I was cast in the film, it was my first acting role, and now we’re doing a brand new version of The Color Purple, that could only happen with the perfect director, who envisioned the film like the Broadway musical, bringing in magical realism and family wholesomeness. - That Lady Who Gives Out Cars

This is really it right here. It’s got nothing to do with modern brides being more “thoughtful” it’s got to do with modern brides either wanting a more bespoke (i.e. ewww, you used a national chain to dress your bridal party) and David’s having a hard time controlling cost so it was no longer an affordable option.

Stephen King had Cujo, The Dead Zone AND Christine adaptations in 1983. Cronenberg’s The Dead Zone was, by far the best of them, though far from the best Cronenberg. Christine was okay Carpenter.

Such a great episode, the del Toro cameo was a fun surprise, that whole exchange about the podcast was genius.

...so much so that I thought the role Kristen booked was as Sally in an upcoming film version...

I think the “pea-shooter” was a gun disguised as a pen, a gag wonderfully set up by “gadgets that never work” discussion.

This was the funniest episode in quite a while. And hiring comedy pros for small parts is welcomed too.

Yeah, I was being flip there.  Allegedly.

too right...he was like “this is exactly the situation where I DON’T need you” and they were like...ummm (gestures)

that could be it, I do agree with bfred that this was very unlikely to be his PR agency’s advice lol, it sounded like the lawyer was all in on it.  In any case Majors supported the move so he must have been on some kind of bad trip.  If he had been like “here is full disclosure, I will be open about it, we had an

The fact that his PR agency dumped him tells me he ignored their advice by having his lawyer launch this public offensive.  PR agencies make huge money on damage control and image rehabilitation.
