As an East Coaster, I didn’t hear of them until the SNL “Lazy Sunday” short...and even then, I thought “Those must be a New York/Northeast thing”
His character was named “Fred” in Paul Haggis’ fondly-remembered Crash...but his character a television star/producer. He was playing Himself, But Openly Racist, and we all knew it (Which, honestly? Brave choice.)
Well, I liked it.
