My theory is this; who was the first authority figure in a cat’s life? Mom. So they defer to the oldest female. Not always, but generally.

My tiny tortie girl was boss of the house, and any of the boys who tried to run up the stairs ahead of her got slashed across the snout and only did it once.

One looks leaner than the other; maybe younger, and it’s the one that ultimately walks away. Maybe a territorial issue between an older animal and a younger one trespassing?

The one lynx didn’t accept the other lynx’s invitation on Lynxed-in. Lynx are big networkers.

Same here. I’ve had 3 cats in the last 20ish years, none of them ever tried to violate anyone’s 4th amendment rights.

May I recommend a rather good book I read recently? It’s called Dear Leader. By a former poet laureate of Kim Jong il, now a defector living in South Korea. A very good insider look into the cult of Kim.
