Those game wardens deserve to be vilified. They showed a complete lack of empathy, shooting the animal in front of a family member. There were absolutely better ways to handle that situation, regardless of if they were within their legal authority to do what they did.

What I find most hypocritical about this, is that it is perfectly acceptable to run a game farm in Kansas. Multiple head of confined, hand raised deer and elk, tame as kittens and all available for your sport shooting pleasure.
