From what I have seen from the two situations I have been in the radius of: there is first denial, then minimization and victim blaming. Then there is pretending that the family member did nothing wrong and the law is stupid and that their punishment is unjust.

In the situation that has been going on for a bout 20

I’m going through a similar thing now. My brother is an alcoholic and has been in jail twice now, the first for beating up his then girlfriend and the second for violating his probation by drinking. He was released last week and I found out he was drinking wine at my mothers house with the rest of my family there who

This thread makes me angry. Hillary had the same qualifications of any starting male senator and there is no reason to believe that had she been the first one in the family to run for senator or governor that she wouldn’t have succeeded (other than the assumption that being a woman makes her less electable on her

It’s happened in my family. You can still love the person but not the act. You can also love them but cut them out of your life because it’s not safe or it’s toxic to be around.

I agree. With a non-family member, that would be it. Ties cut. But I’m a firm believer that, when life goes to shit, you’re family is all you have. That doesn’t mean they support your behavior, but that they will be there to bring you out of the hole you dug yourself, should you so desire.

All that is to say, I feel

The current president went from Lawyer to State Legislator to Senator within the span of 7 years. I’m saying that Hillary could have largely done the same thing in the 8 years she was First Lady.

I don't have an answer for you, but a very close family friend was convicted of child abuse. The trial testimony was pretty explicit about the things he did to these three adolescent boys, and up until the day he was arrested, I would have told you he was one of the finest people I knew. To this day it's incredibly

“But family’s the most important thing in the world!” I hear abusive families crying out.

He’s making it ok to be a gun toting racist and that is what is so fucking terrifying about his popularity and the near constant media coverage

It’s a beautiful state if you are into hiking/skiing/whitewater/the outdoors. It is also filled with some of the most insane people I’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.

Thank you Hillary. This is a story that makes me smile because the badass women are getting shit done. And makes me furious that it has taken badass women who can get shit done, to get shit done because all the fucking men who run shit found a way to get all the weed smokers in jail but not the fucking rapists.

OH GOD. I haven’t even finished reading but that Funky Town story has brought actual tears to my eyes.

I'm 36. I haven't had a landline for 10 years. You and I both still represent large swaths of the population, but yours will be dead sooner. These landline polls are not very accurate.

I’ve decided that Trump is probably the best option on social issues (because you know he’s not religous and doesn’t give a shit about gay marriage / birth control / abortion). But, on the international scene? He could be the worst.

“Jezebels are women forced to become prostitutes and entertainers. They are available only to the Commanders and their guests. They are described as attractive and educated, unable to adjust as handmaids. They have been sterilized, which is forbidden to other women. They operate in unofficial but state-sanctioned

I’m a guy, and this horrifies me more than I can express.

Exactly - my kid can keep our names or take his spouses name, whatever floats his boat! Even if, granted, I’m pretty sure mine will be ditched for pure practicalities. It’s long and noone pronounces it right.
