I wonder if they could simplify the mounting procedure for these that should the tire fail, you could easily replace it yourself at roadside. then you could keep a spare rolled up and stored neatly anywhere in the car.

Biggest concern I’d have would be the heat of the engine causing it to dryrot faster. Though I’m not sure it would be any warmer there than in use on the road, so that may not matter as much.

Could be worse. I used to run the marketing program for a playground equipment manufacturer. One month I accidentally transposed a couple digits of the phone number in an ad in a national trade journal. The number that was run in the ad turned out to be for some risque adult sex line.

This

stole the words right out of my mouth... or fingers in this case.

I think we need to point out that this is in KM and not Miles... so it’s not going nearly as fast as one might think at first. 112 mph in park with every idiot light on is completely doable.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to immediately think of that.

I would wonder where (in a full automotive application) the main issues would happen. As mentioned, fuel injection may have issues, but also fuel pumps, filters, etc. Most lawnmowers are gravity fed, so the pump wouldn’t matter.

Those trailers have some crazy articulation in them to get around turns and obstacles. I imagine that just multiplies the potential failure points.

Could be worse.

We just bought a 2005 4Runner a couple weeks ago from a small used lot in Nashville. This is the first car I’ve bought from one of the “buy here, pay here” kinda lot, and accepted there may be some risk, but it was an incredibly clean under 100k mile SUV that runs smooth.

Likely the case. The wind was incredibly strong that day, clocked locally in excess of 100mph in some areas, possibly enough to have tipped a heavier load, but being the only one at the truck stop to tip, I’d guess it was empty.

Correct. If the element had been fully loaded, I likely wouldn’t be here today.

It does make for a nice presentation, much like Barber. I think I’d just go find a nice vantage point from an adjacent building and gawk for awhile.

Soooooo.... My parents just offered me their ‘07 Impala as a trade for my ‘05 Vibe (with three kids now, the vibe’s just not big enough). Seeing this though... wow, but i would imagine the vibe would be even worse.

Just blame the Illuminauto.

Now playing

So, this is something I only just found out after reading your post.

People act like Porsches offroading is a bad or perhaps stupid thing... To those people I simply say.... 959..

I gotta admit, I’m just the opposite, I always go to our local Enterprise. Since they have a small lot, the low end cars go quick. I reserve a standard with a mid morning or noon pick up and almost always get bumped up for free. Usually it works out well. Tried to rent a Rouge to take the family somewhere and ended up
