IF Uber did all of its testing on public street, then I’d agree with you. But, you can’t develop self-driving car in an entirely controlled environment and expect it to magically work in the real world.

If I had the kind of money to start a self-driving car company, I’d pay a shit-ton of money for the right to use the name “Autobot”.

2006 Honda Odyssey LX is worth about $4.5k (clean trade in, which is probably what you can expect to get from insurance payout). At $922/year for full coverage, you are paying about 20% of the value of the car each year.

Nothing wrong with keeping an eye on the bottom line. In fact, a public-traded companies should not develop new technology without thinking about the bottom line. It’s their legal obligation to the shareholders.

Dude, you had one job, only ONE!!!

Poor Shit

The Escalade ESV, obviously.

just make everything super cheap and low-budget.

Man, you literally described South Park video streaming site from 10 years ago!

It is not about the car my friend. Any car will make it to 200,000 miles if you drive it like an old lady in her Camry.

You mean putting chips in our brain, so we stop being so dumb?

Autonomous vehicles can’t out run laws of physics.

Stop saying “a self-driving Uber vehicle killed a pedestrian”. It is misleading. It is like saying an Amtrak train killed the math student when it was the student who jumped in front of the express train to end his own life.

Some kind of mechanical linkage between the valve lifters? Anyway, I don’t really know how pushrod works; I’m just aware of its simplicity and weight-saving.

Can you explain why pushrod engines can’t have dual cams?

Even playground got it right:

Actually I changed my mind. Let’s go straight to the root of the problem, and ban death!

Very different scenario. We human suck at context switching. Someone who is actively engaged in the act of driving, will have very different reaction time compared to a human who is just a passenger, with the option to take over the driving.

Last year in the United States, over 6,000 people died while walking. Enough is enough. Time to take action. No more innocent lives being cut short.

That’s just silly. Why would anyone do that? Even a cheap hand gun is $200. Who leave $200 in an unlocked car?
