Aaaah, those are so cute! Are they clay, or actual dough, or something else? :D

I’m doing 4x4 holiday art cards for friends! Finally using those Copic markers my husband bought me years ago for my birthday. Never used markers before because they’re so intimidating, but I’m really pleased with myself and the progress I’ve been making in pretty short order!
I fully agree. I can recognize the picture as Rita, albeit monstery (which works—you can have it be her “boss battle” sort of form for late in the movie or a scare reveal) Meanwhile, the current get-up has no callback at all to the original design.
I love the Addams Family films (well, the first two), but my focusing on the superficial beauty take of the day is that I deeply adore the fact that Anjelica Huston continues to wear amazing and classy and revealing and sexy outfits and get equally awesome photoshoots as she ages.
Reminds me of Beasts of Burden, which is beautiful and fascinating—same kind of “talking animals” idea but modern and with more of the mystical.
Dragon Age 2. Finally decided to catch up on that, after playing the first half of Origins approximately eleventy billion times.
Damn, I hadn’t even caught that and that was one of my favorite shows when I was younger. Prisoner blazer would be AMAZING.
Yeah, I’m not really feeling any of these, and I mentioned some of the issues I’ve had with ThinkGeek’s clothing before upthread.
I own—am actually wearing right at this very second—one of their older Star Trek zip-up hoodies (science officer TNG era uniform design).
My friend has a six month old son. Her husband can pass for white pretty comfortably. She cannot, and her son skews to her looks. She told me yesterday that she never thought that she would wish her child didn’t look like her.
Someone on tumblr is having a “draw kittens” day to cheer people up. I doodled my kitty in his handsome Halloween sequined neckpiece of flamboyance that he loves. Such a weirdo. I’m taking a lot of solace in him right now.
A ton of great student films come out of Gobelins on the regular. Carn is a personal favorite, I pimp it out whenever I have the opportunity:
The best option is the pizza bat’leth*:
He’s a handsome cat normally—in the cat sense, with the big straight nose and such—but damned if he isn’t just beautiful with it on. No one who comes over can resist squeezing him! We have decided to make him an elastic band with a snap on it and make our own bowties for him, haha.
It’s not so much a costume, but we bought this little neckband for our cat Madrigal on a whim and he just adores it. It’s pretty bizarre. You can pick it up and he’ll rush over and try to squeeze it over his head.
Ken Burns documentaries are my lifeblood while I work, so I’m in the same straits. Amazon Prime has a good chunk of them still available, though!
I think only one person in the opening was noted as having been there for two weeks, right? Sheriff of Westworld for the past two weeks or something to that effect. My impression was that it was a few day thing for most people--something in the luxury cruise category of vacation.
I always kind of got from the movie that it was definitely an upperclass vacation thing to a large extent (ie, John is a lawyer, everyone else seems like....well, not like they were suffering from any 1970s urban or rural plight).
One of the things I always thought was very clever about Westworld was that it interspersed scenes of concern and mounting dread (and eventually, the actual horror stuff) with scenes that showed just how much fun a place like that could really be (the barfight, the dressing sequence in the beginning, and so on). It…
Kira is a funny character for me. I didn’t like her as a character (I often found her actions and relationships frustrating to watch), but her portrayal, arc, and character generally are fantastic. Sometimes it’s much more interesting to have a character you dislike personally but can recognize their well-roundedness…
