I haven’t looked too far into it, but I will say that the new Shingrix shingles vaccine knocked me on my ass in a way I’ve never experienced with any other vaccine. Very flu-like symptoms (massive body aches, headache, exhaustion, that “oh my god just let me die” feeling) for about a day. I’m not the regular target

In the game? Because this is fantasy, with badass magic-wielders and inhumanely powerful warriors. Legs mean a lot less when you can throw lightning at the enemy’s face. Plus, a lot of DMs run very combat-light games, and many adventures are much more about puzzles and diplomacy.

I saw these and was hoping we’d get a post from you!

Ooooh, title of the book perchance? I've been looking for more "light" history/pop culture reading lately, I burned through a lot in the last few months!

Noni.

Here’s the video you’re thinking of! Shaun’s videos are quite great. (And he’s got such a soothing voice!)

What a good girl! I love those wee female black cats with the round faces. <3

I actually didn’t hate it (I quite enjoyed the experience) but it was a movie that I was aware of falling apart/not adding up even as I watched it, which is never a good sign for me, and I have noooo interest in ever seeing it again.

Thank you so much for this!  Instantly on my favorites now, I’d never heard this cover before!

Honestly, all I need from my horror movies are that they be filmed on a camera of a higher level than a flip-phone, have a location beyond “director’s friend’s house,” and a cast who can at least mostly act.

A lot of it is also just men’s clothing if you’re already short-haired or thickly-eyebrowed like you mention, or slim-bodied. There’s a big difference in how a person’s gender reads because of the cut of their clothing, even if they’re otherwise not changing anything.  Men’s jeans and women’s jeans, for instance, can

The knots that people contort themselves to avoid a simple request (“refer to me by x, please”) never fail to amaze me.

I believe it varies by region and particular clinic (in the US, I’ve seen ten to twelve weeks, and I have a friend in Australia who has mentioned there’s a nine week cutoff, which may also be regional and not all-encompassing).

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what general age we are when we start recognizing tropes in media and no longer “falling for them” (ignoring exceptional cases, or people who have a hard time parsing them or whatnot).

I feel like I’m the one person who felt the puppets were just...okay. (And I hate sounding like I’m pooh-poohing other people’s enjoyment—I love that there’s more puppet stuff! I love that it’s a big fantasy epic! I love Henson works! I love that this stuff exists and even if it weren’t my jam I would be thrilled that

My friend has a cat that actually looks like a dickface. I’ll get a picture later.

It’s pretty good as an occasional vehicle for fat-heavy foods (cream cheese and peanut butter spring to mind). Comes with a nice little trough you can load up, and the crunch and general watery tastelessness cut pleasantly through the fat.

I once heard it discussed in the context of “micro solutions” (though in this case probably more like micro advice) versus “macro solutions.”

Same.  Occasionally I read the “from the DP archives!” links at the bottom and as soon as I see Emily Yoffe it’s like....nah, back button most of the time, thanks.

Fish battered with birthday cake mix rather than my my regular stuff.
