I agree that it's an age thing (only found out about it because I was diagnosed with Crohn's at twenty; I can't really imagine why I'd have known otherwise, there's no one else in my family who takes these kind of prescription stuff), but also that it can seem pretty nonsensical unless it's explained. So I could see

Okay, I love Ares in all incarnations and I wouldn't actually want his lazy, smug bastardness replaced with Ares, God of Love, buuuut...

I prefer the version with a dramatic man speaking over acrylic paintings of robots and bald women.

Now playing

Apologies, it was a Star Trek reference. ;)

The true lesson to the Boy Who Cried Wolf is merely that you shouldn't tell the same lie twice!

The not-quite-final scene.

I get choked up and need to go take a break at that scene every time. The way his voice breaks. God.

I read the boob line and had to immediately stand up and look down at my feet and see how obscured they were.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment of this (in fact, I think it could have been an incredibly interesting angle to take), what happened in the movie for me was that the film did not earn this. Costner and Cavill are perfectly fine actors, but I saw none of that. Pa Kent's motivations were occasionally

On episode descriptions —

It always depressed me, because I think he was a genuinely good pick for Luthor (really, for any of the comic incarnations you want to go with; he can certainly play it more straight and less scenery chewing, though I do love the latter).

I dabble in writing, and I can sit and entertain myself by writing scenes and dialogue and figure out characters in my head endlessly. Huh.

My uncle freelanced as a nature photographer for many years, selling pieces to various organizations (even had a few in Nat Geo!). He visited Africa several times, but I recall talking to him once about a recent trip, and he said he had something like four hundred rolls of film from the two week trip. (Pre-digital,

The one that always got me was "I can't [stop], he wrote me this way."

Works for me. And sorry if I was unclear; I just meant that the "dingdong" joke is very tired and seeing someone write about "M. Night Shymalan" or "Shamalan" is much preferable.

Was it that "little girl SUDDENLY OLD WOMAN TERRIFYING EYE FACE" moment? Because I still think about that.

It's always struck me as odd that that film never gets more recognition. I know that it was reasonably well-acclaimed, and everyone I know who's seen it liked it (and it stuck with them, generally!), but it was just one of those movies that kind of made its little ripple and then disappeared, which is a shame. The

Hell, even if you can't pronounce it, it's not /that/ hard to spell his name. Or to misspell it in a reasonable, understandable fashion.

A very consistent and not-even-guilty,-screw-you favorite of mine. The ending isn't necessarily the best shooting or cinematography, but it couldn't have happened any other way and it's perfect.

I was coming here to post that! That movie was one of my childhood's "Holy fuck!" moments.
